The winner of ESTECO Academy Design Competition receives recognition from ESTECO President during UM17

We had the pleasure to host Michael Bambula, the winner of the ESTECO Academy Design Competition 2016/2017, at our Users' Meeting in Detroit (UM17). On October 24th, Bambula presented his winning design and received a plaque of recognition from the ESTECO President, Carlo Poloni. 

We had the pleasure to host Michael Bambula, the winner of the ESTECO Academy Design Competition 2016/2017, at our Users' Meeting in Detroit (UM17). On October 24th, Bambula presented his winning design and received a plaque of recognition from the ESTECO President, Carlo Poloni. 

The ESTECO Academy Design Competition organized in collaboration with Aprilia Racing and Gamma Technologies, challenged engineering students from all over the world to test their skills in numerical analysis, simulation and testing while aiming to design the perfect race engine.

At UM17, Michael Bambula presented his top-notch design project in which he managed to achieve significant performance improvements while developing a complete model for a Moto3 bike. An MA student of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Florida and a system analyst at Cummins, Bambula had to pass on the opportunity for conducting an internship at Aprilia Racing to the second prize winners. 

"ESTECO Academy Design Competition was a perfect exercise of a real-world engineering problem that is encountered everyday in the Powertrain Industry. The collaboration between ESTECO and the sponsors was great", - said Bambula.

"Using modeFRONTIER saved literally weeks of manual design iteration and certainly helped me identify a better solution. Overall, the competition gave me the chance to enhance my knowledge in engine simulation as well as optimization and apply them to an interesting and challenging situation", he concluded.
